It’s October, and Hallowe’en is only a few weeks away!  What better time to discover great horror fiction!

Not sure where to start?  Have a look at your library’s OverDrive eBook collection:  as a Lester B. Pearson S. B. student, you can take advantage of this wonderful eLibrary on all your devices in one of two ways:

  1. Click here and access the collection by entering the first part of your SSO username (same as in the old Portal), e.g. “jsmith01”.
  2. Download the OverDrive app to your device (scroll down for all the device options) and add the “Lester B. Pearson School Board” to your list of libraries.  Again you will need to sign in with your SSO username (see 1. above).

Once you’re “in”, scroll down the list of subjects until you get to “horror”, and you will get no less than THIRTY-FIVEresults.  Borrow any book that grabs you for one or for two weeks, and be scared… very scared!

Need more ideas?  Ask your librarian!  And check out this list of creepy fiction, courtesy of Teen Services Underground.

Finally – WIN A $15 GIFT CERTIFICATE FOR A BOOK OF YOUR CHOICE!  To enter this draw, simply leave us a message with your thoughts on horror stories.  Do you like them, or not?  Why?  Which one is your favourite?  Or, what would you prefer to read instead?

***Be sure to sign your message with your initial and last name, your grade, and the name of your school, so that we can find you!  The draw is on Friday, October 30th.  Good luck!
